As I finished doing some secondary research on the premium hatchbacks in the country, my eyes glued on to two cars. First, the Hyundai Getz .and then the Aveo U-VA. So I thought I might as well take the test drive. It was saturday afternoon, the dealer was kind enough to alot me a demo car for the test drive at last minute notice. As I got into the car, the first feeling I got was that of a Opel Astra/corsa. It just feels as comfortable and roomy as the astra.
Sitting in the drivers seat, it feels more like driving the Optra due to the low seating and extended leg space. Performance: The pick up is decent for a 1.2 ltr engine, however it reminds me of the old Palio. The ride is extremely smooth - you can compare it to Corolla.seriously! As you rev-up the engine you feel the Getz may be more smooth and refined. You can hear the enginegrumble a lil bit once you try to stretch it toward 80 kmph. The steering is light. But.the gear box feels stiff, just like the Opel Astra. Its not as effortless as the Getz. The interiors are rich and the dash is well designed.large storage spaces. The car seems tough and rugged, the body is heavy so it sticks to the road pretty well.
So, overall, the U-VA scores on comfort, space, luxury, and big car feel. The Getz scores on power, better gear box-(light and quick), its a pleasure for the driver. The Getz body-metal is very light so it gives a(old) maruti zen like feel. Finally, I think ill go in for the U-VA. Its got class, good looks, good interior, decent power and comfort. The getz prime new look isyuck.interiors have been stripped down dur to cheaper plastics and upholstery.
Cheers!
