Pyaar desh se bhi hota hai

‘Pyaar desh se bhi hota hai’ was the punch-line for the serial but the catch-line for me to keep an eye on the serial.

I am the person who is never onto serial. First of all don’t like the ‘sass-bahu’ saga and then you pick up any other serial – they are focused on some issue in life. May be someone getting married & re-married & re-re-married and don’t know what all. Or someone is in pain throughout life [zindagi ki kahani mein no twist, only pain] as if there is nothing called positive in life. Or watch some so called horror ones – where I need to pinch myself & tell again & again ‘Debz – get scared mann. This is a bhootiya serial’. That way I am very happy with my Cartoon network and Pogo. I don’t hesitate calling them as ‘My channel’. I can very well feel relaxed, laugh and above all no jhanjhat while watching those channels.

Post dinner I was browsing channel [my favorite act when the remote is in my hand] and suddenly noticed a bunch of young faces [most are new too] on the screen. Is it something on Air Force? At-least the dress code pointed so [Air Force / Army is something always remains my attraction]. Dah! Before even I could gulp the promo with my sleepy limb, it was over. Guess what I then started keeping an eye so that next time I won’t miss it. Morphy ji is so right while penning down his rule book! I did not get to see it for sometime! But then finally I was able to watch the complete clip … ‘Pyaar desh se bhi hota hai’ Oh wao! Loved the ‘LINE’ the moment I heard it. The song was striking too… Chhoona hai Aasmaan’ ending with a high pitch was very different. Let me share another catch at this moment. The name doesn’t start with ‘K’. I can bet this is not from Balaji Group [cos I don’t see ‘K’ anywhere]. Timing was also good 9:00 PM – another half an hour for my Cinderella Time [to sleep]. Noted down the start date & timing.

As typical ‘ME’ I completely forgot about it & missed the start date etc. Realized it probably after a week or two. But tele-soap – chalta hai. I find the story is about a group of aspiring young fighters of Indian Air Force [lot-a new faces on screen too]. How a special task force called ‘Hawks’ is formed. Small personifications of how a small girl’s dream of flying high on sky is coming true was presented very well. Various incidents on base, rebel act of officers, prank among the members – made the serial get going. Well, I was not glued to the but yes, was quite regular. With time they introduced Iqbal Khan [oooooooo! Handsome hunk]. Now am regular pausing the channel on StarOne at 9:00 PM. Then slowly came the drama part. Business afterall – how long viewers will stand a flat desh prem story? TRP ka sawal hai!

Flashback of 20 plus years... Creating a love triangle. All those were digestible as the story continued with mission of the Hawks & their success. And then they realized the existence of someone who is disclosing all internal plans to Dushman. Now the journey of not just fighting against the external enemy but also with the internal ‘black part’ starts. The story goes on. I am not going to point at the loose part of the story by raising a finger for threat to National security, background verification for Air Force members before putting them on board, security at base, identity crisis, or never missing make-up of officers during crisis etc. Oh, they changed the slot to 9:30-10:00 [overlapping my Cinderella Time] sometime back and that’s when I started missing the serial.

I must tell exit of Iqbal Khan aka Abhi from serial made me sad. Not because I am going to miss his regular glimpse but the replaced actor was not at all fitting into the character. Last night when I won the battle of getting hold of television remote with my father, the kahani seemed to pen its its. Happy ending ofcourse with everything settled – like daughter knowing about her father, Anth-e-Dushman, conversion of dushman member in team as sachha Desh-bhakt etc.

I would like to conclude with few of my observation on why/how this serial caught my eye & retained me loyal till end.

A very different punch line - Pyaar desh se bhi hota hai

Very different story line – with mix of drama etc

  New & fresh faces [mostly]

  9:00-9:30 PM slot

Touch of reality [not focusing always on the negative part]

  Well embed humor

Last but not the least – the story got an end

I was thinking of writing on the serial for sometime, but off late my schedule kept me away from MS for sometime. The end of the story last night made me to say ‘)(#((^&(#&$_+&’  why didn’t I write on it before. And this morning I see mail from Jasmine. I just said myself ‘Late better than never’ and took time to complete my long pending desire to write a review on the serial ‘Chhoona Hai Aasmaan’…
