One day we frnds decided 2 go for a movie.evrybody had deir own choices.some saying DARNA ZAROORI HAI, some TARADAS, some RASATHANTRAM.but at last we decided 2 go for CHINTAMANI KOLACASE.we were all expecting another suresh gopi-shaji typical movie.some punch dialogues, some zoom in shots, some peppy music n a usual suspense.but wot we saw was something different.something breathtaking 2222222.The film opens with Lal Krishna (LK alias License to Kill!) driving his black ambassador car behind Quereshi (Baburaj) his client after they won the case and has been let free by the court after he had brutally raped and killed his teacher! In fact Quereshi has arranged a party for Lal Krishnan for saving him from the gallows. Lal Krishna asks him- “Isn’t raping your own guru a crime?”, Quereshi replies- “If Guru is a charakku (attractive) then what do I do?” A 10 minute fight follows and after a long winded dialogue, Quereshi is killed by LK! Phew the killing spree starts! After each killing our hero mouths some Sanskrit slokas, English idioms like “Goodbye Lucifer!” and the jarring background score “Asathoma Satgamaya..” which nearly breaks your ear drums. He says he is following the “cosmic law”!! The rest of the film is about how Lal Krishnan takes up the case as defending lawyer for nine rich NRI girls (Better known as ‘Mirchi’ girls in college) who are the main accused in ragging and killing Chinthamani a poor medical student! Lal Krishnan does the impossible by hooking up evidences and finally the nine girls are left free. But the mystery behind Chinthamani’s murder is totally different and how our hero takes revenge on the real killers in a blood soaked climax forms the rest of the story. suresh gopi is excellent as LK.thilakan proves he is one of d best.all others except mani was god.but kalabhavan manis role was poor.background score is gud.but 22222 loud.camera is excellent.n shaji kailas execution is gr8 so all in all a different movie with a different theme.
