Are you the kind of person who expects..
Films to have a good story.....
Films to be filled with fresh humour.....
Movie to deliver a meaningful message......
Movies where characters are etched out in detail.....
If the answer to any of the above questions is YES, then I think you should not miss Chindavishtaaaya Shyamala. A tale about specific personalities in life who tend to get too involved in some things that they forget their other responsibilities towards the family and friends...In short the jist of this movie is...... Never over do Anything that you forget your other responsibilities
This movie begins like any movie with lots of humour which is characteristic of any Sreenivasan movie. The humour is very typical of Srinivasan movies which includes lot of sarcastic dialogues. Sangeetha (Shymala) is Srinivasans (Vijayan) wife. Shyamala is totally worried, worried about her childrens future, the reason for which is her husband Vijayans irresponsible life.
Vijayan, originally a schoolteacher, believes that he is capable of doing much more than mere teaching school children, and ventures into many inexperienced business and fails. Vijayan is more than happy to waste time with his friends having parties and playing cards. He likes this lifestyle so much that he resists pressure from his wife, father and everybody in the family to join the job and visit Sabarimala. Finally due to unbearable pressure he goes to Sabarimala.
The problem with Vijayan is he gets too involved in Spirituality that he again begins to ignore his family. Things worsen. Vijayan takes to spirituality big time, reaches a monastery in hope that he can spent his rest of the life without doing any work. When his fellow inmate of the monastery ridicules him, he returns home to find his wife and children living in a better way. The climax is how he learns from his mistakes and rejoins the family.
Sangeetha as Shyamala is super. She was the perfect fit for this character. Other characters like Thilakkan, Innocent, Siddique and Sudeesh are good. Finally Srinivasan is good as usual. Srinivasans interactions with his wife, his friends and his expressions are humorous.
As a director Srinivasans movies are not just about humour. Thats what makes this talented director, actor and script writer a special asset to Malayalam cinema.
There is a distinct style to his movies which are mainly character based. His earlier movies Pavam Pavam Rajakumaran and Vadakkunokki Yantram also had the same essence.
This movie again comes as a whiff of fresh air with something new. Films are about teaching you a moral in life, and this one sure is appreciable on that front.
