Chinese Room at Kemps Corner is a very old Chinese
Restaurant run by the Kwality chain. It is probably the
oldest Chinese restaurant in the Kemps corner area and has
a faithful clientele who swear by it.
As you enter the restaurant the decor is like any Kwality
restaurant, there being nothing distinctive to indicate it
is a Chinese Restaurant.
The restaurant staff is courteous and after taking your
order serve the food fast. The menu is a stereotyped
Chinese menu with the normal fried rice, noodles, sweet
and sour and the chop suey dishes. The food served is,
however tasty and nice.
I go to the Chinese Room sometimes as it is close to my
house and I normally order a mixed fried rice, prawns in
garlic sauce, stir fried chicken noodles followed by
an ice-cream (which is not a Chinese dish). The cost of this
menu which is enough for two people is about Rs 250/ per
head.
There is no prior reservation required in this restaurant
as you can get a table straight away at anytime. It is
frequented by the regulars and the staff know them well.
It is difficult getting parking at Kemps corner and one
may have to park on Altamount road nearby.
