Remember Anil Kapoor in ‘Meri Jung’, he was a lawyer there. In ‘Chocolate’ too Anil plays a sharp lawyer with exceptional case winning skills. Krishna a.k.a Krish(Anil) gets the case in which two hapless Indians residing in London is arrested for being involved in terrorist activities.
Chocolate the movie tries to become as dark and mysterious as the real chololate. It unfolds a web of sinister plots. This in turn unearths the true personalities of the seven individuals.
It is Christmas time in London. The two indians arrested are Pipi (Irfaan Khan), an artist and Sim(Tanushree Datta), a waitress and temptress with a dark past. Monsoon (Sushma Reddy), a reporter with a newspaper called The Indian Tribune, breaks the story. However, on probing further, she decides to help the two.
As Krish interrogates Pipi and Sim, the story of the movie goes into flashbacks.
It turns out that Pipi and Sim are a part of a group of five Indians, all wannabe musicians who work during daytime and play their music at night. The other three are Tubby (Arshad Warsi), a playboy, Rocker Suniel Shetty who obsessively loves Sim and Devaa (Emraan Hashmi), a passionate musician.
Director Vivek Agnihotri has done a decent job and handles the technicalities well. The movie has a steady pace and is spiced up here and there with unexpected twists. These sometimes however may appear confusing. The climax (although not original) is a surprise.
