With my dial up I do occasionally get kicked off of the net.
But I am able to dial again and get right back on.
It is slow but I have first hand knowledge that it works better than a cable modem. You see I work for the local cable company and take the calls when customers cable and net is off. If my internet provider were off as much as the cable company’s net, I would not pay for such service. Plus my provider is half the cost of the cable’s net. The cables net would win hands down on speed, but the outages would make me nutsy. Even if I do go to the cable modem, a back up provider would still be needed, because when I am not at work, I am on the net.
