Don't buy a dishwasher if you stay in India

If you stay in India, the choice is between a dishwasher @ Rs 20, 000 or a maid @ Rs 200 per month. With a dishwasher, you also have the headache of loading and unloading it - with a maid, you don’t. I have bought an IFB dishwasher and am regretting it, because after all the hassle of loading and unloading, it does not clean as well as a maid. The only good thing is that it steams everything and therefore kills germs.

If after all this, you do decide to buy one, go for a model which has a water softening system. Also, check out availability of dishwasher detergent and water softeners in your area- this can become an added headache once you’ve got the machine in. (Also, check out the prices of these consumables!!!!)
