How different types compare and some tips

Choosing a dishwasher can be quite confusing. When you go shopping for one, you really need to know what you are looking for. I live in Toronto and seriously speaking I never needed a dishwasher until I came here. Getting a servant is more entertaining.

I coaxed a shopkeeper to let me try out 3 types of dishwashers. Sadly I forgot the names but I know the prices.

1) The first one we checked was a $400 standard dish washer. It wasn’t exactly the prettiest one but a dishwasher anyways.

2) The second one was a middle-ranged dishwasher which costed $1200. It said that it had a larger amount of water being pumped out and therefore it cleaned better than the others. It was also meant to be relatively quiet.

3) The third dishwasher that was put to the test was a high-class $2200 one. It had a special third rack and said that it too was quiet and had the largest water pump out of all the ones we were testing.

The results were revealed after 1 and a half hours of washing the dishes form a local restaurant. None of the dishes put in the dishwasher were rinsed and the same Cascade dishwashing fluid was used.

1) The dishes were relatively clean. However, the bottoms of 2 glassed, the back of a spoon, and a rim around a saucepan were left dirty. It was quite loud and couldn’t hold as many dishes as the others.

2) The dishes were clean except the bottom of one glass. It was indeed quite silent.

3) All the dishes were cleaned. It was just as loud or quiet as #2. It had a feature for cooling the dishes. It could also come in several colours to suit your kitchen.

So if you don’t mind the noise and wouldn’t mind cleaning up some of the left overs, the first option isn’t a bad choice.

As for the others, it all depends on your pocket and what’s inside it!

SOME QUICK TIPS:

Run the hot water of your kitchen tap before turning on the dishwasher so that the water that would be used would be hot and therefore clean better.

Don’t overload no matter how tempting it is. The jets might miss some areas and you might end up cleaning up after cleaning up.

When shopping, try to look for the largest pump available within your budget. The more water pressure, the cleaner the dishes.
