Callous attitude of Touchtel in Chennai

I had taken a touchtel connection with free dsl, which was activated on10/6/03. I got the 1st bill on 10/7/03 and was horrified to find that I had been charged over Rs 8, 000/- all over again for the registration fees, modem costs, etc - amounts that I had already paid at the time of registration. My free pulses had not been credited either and the plan fees were not what I had been informed about. I contacted touchtel about 18 times within the next 15 days to get the matter sorted out and get a fresh bill issued. Each time I was very politely reassured that the matter was sorted out and a fresh bill was in the post. However, on the 23rd, my outgoing calls were barred. When contacted, Touchtel was still polite but clueless. Finally, I contacted Mr G. Subramanium(98400 86435) - he is the senior man in Chennai - again lots of sorries and now the phone lines were restored promptly. The DSL line was not restored, however, till the 3rd(complaint no 78257 of 1/8)- when I had to contact Mr Subramanium again for action. However, despite the DSL line being restored, I still can’t send mail. I logged a complaint(no 79216) on 4/8 and was promised prompt action - nothing happened till the 5th when I called Mr Subramanium again - again a lot of promises - no action till date(7 Aug 5.30 pm). I have not yet received the new bill either.

9 Aug 03 11:30 am - have not received the new bill, still can’t send mail.


9 Aug 03 11:40 am - mail this revue to Mr G Subramnium.


9 Aug 03. 3 pm - all the problems still exist - receive second bill dated 2/8/03 - only50 free pulses credited instead of 200 - rental charge of 250 in addition to the plan fee of 995 - this 250 was not mentioned anywhere previously -   complaint no  82294 logged at 4 pm - one Manoj contacts me and promises to sort out all the glitches by evening.


11 Aug 03 11:00 am - Receive Duplicate copies of the 2 bills - all the problems still exist - no changes - 2 pm - I call Mr Subramanium again -   puts me on to Suresh -


who takes all the details all over again-wants to uninstall and install the modem over the phone - I ask him to send a sercvice guy to do whatever has to be done - promises me one by 6:30 pm - no one comes - Suresh also says that no previuos details exist about my complaints! - he also says that he could not contact me earlier as voice mail is activated - I had asked for deactivation of voice mail - on 11/7/03- deactivation was confirmed-again on 28/7 I was told by callers that the voice mail was activated and they could not contact me-Iwas told on enquiry that it was deactivated! - now their own service people say it is activated- I call about 3 nos and am told that no details exist of the previous requests - I should also go and delete all messages before it can be deactivated- why was I not told this on 11/7?I finally get a VRS system asking me to record my message for the VMS! In exasperation I contact Suresh again who says that he will look into it personally - - 4:30 pm get a call to say that the 200 free calls will be adjusted in the NEXT bill - what about the other problems?-clueless!
