Its a working woman's saving grace

A microwave oven is definitely a very useful and time saving device. It of course has a solid price tag attached to it and comes in different capacities. you would find ovens ranging from Rs.6000+ to Rs. 17-18000 and more.

There are certain issues which you must consider before buying a oven.

First, the size of your family this will govern your choice of size of your oven. But it is also better to consider future requirements and then go for a medium size (if the budget permits)rather than going for a small size and later on upgrading again.

Second, whichever brand of oven you buy, please check with the dealer on the after sales service and the facility provided by the company in terms of demos and cooking classes at home. Most companies offer cooking classes at home. also check out the location of the service centre from your house.

Third, check out the power supply and connection where you will be installing the oven. You should rule out any fluctuations in the line. Please ensure that the installation is done properly and checked. Keep free space around the oven.

Fourth, read the manual carefully. if you donot understand something ask the dealer or call the company helpline. Operate the oven only after you understand which button are for what. But relax its no rocket science and u will get used to it very easily.

Five, be sure to practise a few times before you serve up food :-) This is because as with other devices you need to get used to the amount of oil, spice and the heating time for a recipe before it comes out really well.

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: Check on the dishes you will use for cooking. They have to be microwave proof.

This is a wonderful helper for a working woman who need not come home tired and take out food and carry on the painful process of heating up each item one by one on to the kadhai. The micro wave will do this faster without much effort with less utensils to wash and less of mess around the kitchen. The other plusses are a smokeless, clean kitchen and healthy less oily food.

So my advice is to ultimately go for one!
