We travelled recently from Vizag to Jammu (Vaishno Devi, pilgrimage)with compleete family having a reliance and tata post paid each and two Airtel Prepaid. The network with tata was always there throughout the entire trip which was by air from V to Delhi and delhi by rail to jammu and back the same way. Both Airtel prepaid gave extrememly poor connectivity (I am partial to Airtel As I like Sunil Mittal) during the rail trip (from Delhi to jammu) and were not reachable 99 percent of the time durig the road journey from Jammu to Katra and reliance was just a shade better. It caused us lot of trouble to stay in touch during the ardous climb/descend upto/from the temple as we were separated during the 12 Km route and had to use STD to connect to the lone memeber with the tata set. Though tata also gave us a shock of barring outgoing due to non-payment of bills (luckily after the temple visit, at Delhi during the return leg)which had been paid a week back. But thanx to the service manager at Vizag , the issue was resolved in a days time and blame attributed to the system. I guess the real test of a mobile is when u r travelling as all of us were fairly comfortable with our respective service providers. Seems like tata’s are serious players too and their recent AD campaign is in line with their performance.
