Miserable BPL

I have been a BPL customer for the last 10+ years, ever since mobile service was introduced in Mumbai. I have 2 numbers(1 mine, other wife’s) and have largely been satisfied with their service.


However, lately both numbers are becoming very very troublesome. Namely:




  1. Call dropping(outgoing)- a call is dropped after a few seconds requiring you to make another call.




  2. Connection drop(incoming)- when others call, over 80% of calls disconnect halfway, very often making the other person feel you are deliberately doing this.




  3. Poor call centre response - when you contact the call centre firstly they make you key in your mobile number, and then when you talk to an executive, they ask you to repeat the number - why repeat this process. After that they will do nothing about your complaint regarding poor service except to say they are sorry, they will look into it etc. Result - no change, no improvement.






Currently BPL claims that they are "upgrading" their network. This is happening for the last one month, but every time I call, they say it will be done in the next 2-3 days. No improvement.


I stay at 4- Bunglows. At home I get no calls at all. After numerous complaints from family, friends and colleagues - I try several times a day to contact my own cell through my landline. Each time I am told "the number is not reachable" although the mobile is lying right next to me and signal strength is quite strong.


Even in the suburbs(near Kalyan) where I go for weekends, all my friends/family get a good signal from their networks, but my wife and me struggle to get a weak connection, and usually have to go into roaming to get/recieve calls.


Well, all in all STAY AWAY FROM BPL, their good service days are gone, their response is uncaring and their network is absolutely lousy.
