Kundan Electonics, Coxtown

I have been thinking about writing a review about this shop for quite some time now. Its about’Kundan Electronics, Coxtown’. because of couple of not so great experiences I have had when I had been there.

The first time I had been there was to inquire about the cost of a TV. People at the reception(seemed like the head of the shop), seemed least interested. Forget about smile on the face, the reaction was like’what the F do you want?’. It was like they sell things at bulk and they didn’t bother about some who wanted a single TV. There was another employee, who took me to the first floor. He was more than helpful, gave me all the details that I wanted. In fact the workers in the first floor make you feel at home. They do the damage control exercise for all the bad work people at the reception do. But then I had already decided not to buy anything from them.

If this is the way the treat me before I buy the product, what will happen when I buy something if there is a problem with it.

I went to UniLet diagonally opposite to this shop. They were really good. There was someone to talk to me. I told them I came only to check the price and if at all I buy it would be the next week. They were fine with it. And I figured out the same model of TV costs 500/- lesser here. I don’t know if its to do any accessories included with it. Anyways, there are a few people who care for you as a customer. They gave me a business card and took my number. Which meant they were willing to do business with me.

I eventually picked up a LCD from Reliance digital, that’s a different story. That’s a nice place, all electronic items under one roof, got it under 0% EMI scheme. I will be writing a different review about it.

The second time I went there was to buy a ceiling fan. I had it in my mind that I wouldn’t go there this time. So I check at a different shop. He said he didn’t have one at that time. Then I went to Uni-let they said they didn’t sell fans. How sad! I wanted buy something from them for the simple reason that they talked to me well the last time. My mom had come with me, I didn’t want to go back empty handed. I was forced to go to’Kundan Electronics’. Trust me the facial reaction was no different. There were couple of them with same constipation look. I said fans, he said up. I wanted crompton greaves or Usha. They didn’t have both. They had Bajaj and Khaitan. I decided to go with Khaitan. Which is good to, no problem with that.

The interesting thing was when I asked for the cost of a pressure cooker. He said some amount, while going back home we went to Prestige showroom opposite to that, for the same one they charged 500/- lesser. Made me think if I ended up paying more for the fan. Good learning, when there is a show room for a product why would you go somewhere else.

They swiped my card a few times and said the phone lines are down. Gave the card back to me, we had to use cash. Generally people say’thank you’ at the end of a purchase, once the payment is made. He didn’t do that, however I am glad he didn’t say f off.

I would be surprised if that kind of behavior is only with me, I believe it is a behavioral pattern. May be people are forced to go there as there aren’t other options, like what happened with me. If there was a Girias or Adhishwar nearby they would’ve felt the heat. Today is customer’s world, it is the customer service and the after sales service that will make all the difference. I’m sure these guys will figure that out.
