Education is like giving direction to the masses. A person is made to believe in a particular direction only. He/She is made to believe that whatever they are being told is a universal truth and life works that way only. He/She is made to believe that if they follow a particular direction it is right and anyone who does not is wrong, incapable, and useless.
The difference can be understood by means of comparing rain drops. Some raindrops fall on the ground and spread without any specific direction. At the same time, there are other raindrops which fall in a gutter pipe. The gutter pipe gives these raindrops a direction and all of them flow with force in the one direction to meet a bigger gutter.
There is no doubt that the raindrops in the gutter pipe will travel greater distance but let us also look at the opportunity lost. These drops will be traveling in a dark closed pipe away from the beauty of the nature. They do not have any control over the flow. They just flow in that direction because somebody laid the pipe that way.
The raindrops in the gutter just have to run. There is no time to wait for anything else in life. They have no identity because they are a part of the mass flow. Finally, the question arises ’’What are they flowing for?’’ and the answer is ’’Just to fall in a bigger gutter.’’
On the other hand, a drop that falls on the ground gets its own space to spread and expand to its limit. There is no force over it. It can stop whenever it reaches its limits. And all this while maintaining its identity, away from darkness, and in the beauty of the nature.
In the end, it is either absorbed by the ground or taken back by the clouds. Anyways, it remains pure. Definitely better than flowing with a direction in a gutter.
It is important to have a direction but it is also important to know about that direction. The directions should not be by force.
