Let me tell you my experience with both front and top loading washing machines. I had an IFB Front loading washing machine in my native place. After reading some very good advice from https://buying-washingmachines.blogspot.com/ I decided to purchase a top loader for myself. The site also gives very good pros and cons of front and top loading washing machines.
I bought a Godrej top loading washing machine(Turbo brush technology) because I am a bachelore and wanted something cheap and light weight. The mechanic took 2 weeks to come and install the machine. The turbo brush technology is supposed to work like this: When the pulsator rotates clockwise, the drum rotates anti-clockwise and vice versa, so as to have a brush effect during wash. I found that this mechanism was not properly synchronized, the drum rotated very late. Anyway, after a week, the motor stopped working. The mechanic took a week to come and see the machine. Let me tell you, Godrej service is very poor especially in Bangalore. The mechanic fitted another motor, but to my horror, it was an ordinary pulsator motor, the drum dint rotate at all. When asked, he told me that turbo brush technology was found to be faulty by Godrej and hence I wont get that motor. Now, I had spent a 1000 bucks extra for turbo brush, all for nothing.
The IFB washing machine I have at home is really cool. It has inbuilt hot wash facility with heater which can heat water upto 95 degree centigrade. You can start and stop the machine in any cycle. I have been using it for ten years. Of course, there are repairs and some parts need to be changed. But the service was prompt in Pondicherry.
I would suggest people to understand the pros and cons of both front and top loaders and then decide which one to go for. https://buying-washingmachines.blogspot.com/ may help you. But please avoid Godrej at any cost.
