I had purchased a front loading IFB Serena 5.5kg automatic washing machine from M/S Fridgehouse Trichur on 15/10/2010.The technician installed the machine after three days and I also purchased the IFB electronic voltage guard from the company.About two weeks after installation the machine stopped working and I found that the drum was not spinning.I informed the dealer and the IFB helpline who registered my complaint. The technician who inspected the machine informed me that the motor and the electronic circuit board had to be replaced and that I have to wait for the spare parts to arrive.
I was shocked to note that a defective machine was sold to me and I sent an email to IFB on 12/11/2010 to replace my defective washing machine as I had apprehensions about its quality.A reminder mail also was sent on 15/11/2010 but IFB company has not replied to the two mails. Now I am fighting with the dealer to get the machine replaced as I have lost confidence in the unit sold to me.I am shocked with the response of a reputed company like IFB who has chosen to ignore my complaints.I had expected the company to take immediate action to restore the goodwill, since the washing machine has major manufacturing defects.
Inspite of repeated reminders no action has been taken by the dealer or the company as on 16/11/2010.
The entire episode reveals the callous attitude of the company and the helplessness of the consumer. The only recourse now seems to be to resort to legal action.
Subsequent to the publication of this review I was informed by IFB that their company policy does not allow replacement but only warranty repair. Subsequently I took up the matter with the dealer Fridge house who replaced the machine with a new IFB machine.
I thank all those who cooperated with me.
