Things to know before choosing a water filter

Before choosing a water filter, one must gain knowledge of water to be used. Because different kind of purification methods are applied for different types of water sources. If the water source is an under ground bore or tube-well, then solid particles of heavy metals and sediments are likely to be present in that water. The TDS level of such water is alarmingly high too. TDS is is a short form of Total Dissolved Salt in water. To purify this kind of water, RO( Reverse Osmosis) purification method is applied. the job of RO Technic is to differentiate the TDS, solid particles and heavy metal metal particles present in the water. The TDS level needs to be present between 20-80 in safe drinking water, which is ensured by this RO filtration. The UV filtration Technic kills or hibernates the bacteria present in the water.

If the water source is river, a flowing stream or a lake, then the TDS level is very low in comparison to under ground water. So here the UV and UF filtration is enough to purify the water. All these filtration methods require electricity to operate.

If one has a transferable job and needs to change house frequently, then the electric purifier creates a hassle of installation time to time. In this field, the non electric water filter is good which works with the help of gravitational force without using electricity. But some draw back of these kind of filters are -

  • unable to filter heavy metal particles like the arsenic and lead

  • Unable to control the TDS level of water

  • Unable to kill bacteria present in water.

Lastly, when choosing for a water filter, one must go for the professional brand of filters. Tis will help in giving good quality of drinking water a well as good service of the product.
