The good and bad carbohydrates... new scientific researchHi, My vacation is almost about to end now. And Im so glad; not because its ending but because I am able to achieve what I had planned. I was all set to loose my weight by atleast 5 kg and Ive done it. in a month!!! Heres how I did it.Before you embark on anything of this sort you must seek your doctors opinion. I was a little fat (77 kg for my 59 body), while the ideal weight for me is 65. So I went to my doctor, told him that I want to loose weight and asked him what his suggestions were. Actually I had already read a lot on the internet about this highly sought for topic. (loose weight is one of the top searches on Google) So I wasnt really benefited by the appointment. But still, its good to let your doctor know what you plan to do with your body. He just told me the usual stuff.Cut down fatty oily food, go for carbs and proteins.Exercise as much as you can, etc. etc.Of course, all that is fine. But I guess the thing that really deserves the credit is Reader Digests article in Nov. 2003 copy. Its not just another bogus article in a regular health magazine. Its Readers Digest article, and if that is not enough, I checked several university websites which confirm the same point.
The point is simple: Get closer to nature. There are good carbs and bad carbs. Good carbs are those with low Glycemic index (GI )and they are the ones that are digested slowly in your body, hence you dont feel hungry often and hence the result. Q.E.D. What is important is what actually is composed of those calories. So, eating 4 rotis (whole wheat) is probably isnt as bad as eating a cadbury bar (even though 4 rotis contain more calories than the cadbury bar) because sugar will be quickly absorbed in your body, giving you a blast of energy which, if not dissipated (or burnt), will be stored in your body as extra glycogen which is later converted into fat. And, thats not all. You will feel hungry again. Making you take extra calories than you need. Your body burns calories continuously and you need constant and slow supply of glucose; not a burst, which is precisely what low GI foods give you. This way, you feel satisfied longer and end up consuming fewer calories. No more cravings!The bottomline: Remember that Mr. Tarzan had an excellent physique.
