I took a Tata Indicom WIreless internet in July and I was assured that alhough it is a dial up based connection, it will give a much better speed as compared to BSNL dial ups.
After using 2-3 months, I found this is one of the WORST internet solution available in the market. It gives no way a better performance than traditional BSNL diap ups. The connection gets dropped very frequently and even if the connection remains up, no data transfer takes place. A simple web page used to take 10-15 mins with "page can not be displayed" at the end.
Finally I decided to discontinue the connection althought I had to pay a one time money of Rs 2800 for the USB device. So I went to Tatas office in Ultadanga in Calcutta and I had a second round of bitter experience with Tata when I saw the rough behaviour of cusstomer facing ladys in their office. I had to wait for 1 hr and 30 mins just to get my connection off. I finally went for a cable based broadband which is much cheaper and better in terms of performance than this.
The only good thing I found anout the device is that it can be used with your laptop when you are sitting in your chauffer driven car (assuming your connection will not be broken and the device will transfer data).
Those who are interested to buy a wireless internet may go for the BSNL Wireless WLL (3G) which seems to be much better than Tata/Reliance based dial up solutions.
