I purchased laptop recently and wanted to have internet connection immediatly .i wanted to go for bsnl broadband connection, but did not take it as u had to take new phone connection and since I already had wireless tata indicom landline connection .then I decided to take the new tata indicom wireless usb based modem(tata indicom whiz).the connection was activated within 48 working hours.
There is no problem in connectivity as it always gets connected immediatly, and speed is also ok-ok.the speed is what they promised so I can’t question them.it is good for chatting and sending mails, but if u want to download some large stuff it gets frustrating as u start comparing it to the speed what u get in broadband connection.secondly the rates are quite high compared to the fixed line broadband rates, and u start questioning ur decision to go for it in the long run?
the only benefit is that u get instant connection, decent speed and of cource u can browse any where, i get to browse in my laptop both at my workplace as well in my residence, no need 4 two connections and some time durinf long commutes it is a boon.
overall, if they reduce the cost of the connection, it is very good second option.
