Reliance USB modem

I recently bought a compaq notebook and as part of reliance promotion offer got a reliance USB modem for wireless connectivity.I got a bundled offer wherein I pay 3700(Including taxes ) for a plan of 1.5 GB download / month over a period of 3 months. Additional data transfer at rupees 2/MB. The best part about this offer is that it is not time bound. In the sense that you only pay for the data and not for the time you spend on the internet. On enquiring in Reliance world they clearly told me that it is not for people looking for fancy downloads.

The speed is limited to 144kbps. I have got transfer speeds upto 100 kbps at times. If you disable the multimedia settings of your browser it works as fast as a cyber cafe PC where you share the bandwidth with many other PCs. On the average I have got 15kbps download speed and it only gets better on weekends. If you are someone who wants internet for basic usage like mails, current affiars , banking and trading transactions on internet then this is more than enough for your requirements.

I could install the modem in about 30 minutes and hook up to internet. Funnily enough I had to look into 2 manuals to get it going. This package clears lacks a complete installation guide. If you are someone who is constantly on the move or stuck in someplace where you have no decent broadband provider then look no further. Reliance netconnect is worth a try.
