Sukam's appalling aftersales service

Think twice before buying Sukam!!!


About seven months ago, immediately after a maintenance visit, I noticed that my inverted batteries seemed to be giving off a lot of heat and they were leaking fluid. I immediately got in touch with the dealer I had purchased my inverted and batteries from and requested him to have one of his service people come and check out the problem.


When no-one showed up for four days, I called again to remind the owner of the dealership to send me a service person. This continued for around 2 months, repeated phone calls from me with no response. By this time I began finding that the dealer would most often not pick up calls not matter how often I tried his cell number. Calls to his landline, if picked up, would generally be met by the response that he was not available but that the person answering would be sure to pass on the message.


By this time, the inverted backup time was down to nothing and I had to switch it off and disconnect it as it was not functioning any longer. I got in touch with Sukam’s head office in Delhi who put mein touch with their service person in Pune. Unfortunately, this failed to helpin anyway. He first got in touch with the dealer in Goa and asked him to attend to my case. The dealer promised to do so, but again to no surprise on my part, failed to do so. He had the sheer nerve to claim that his man had come to my house several times in an attempt to service the unit only to find no one at home. This after I spent NINE whole working days at different times, waiting at home for him to show up at the promised time. This carried on for another 2 and half months after which I finally told the Sukam rep that I was sick and tired of being made a fool of by their dealer and losing so much time waiting for him.


He finally agreed to send a Sukam service engineer. However, it took a further three weeks for this person to show up. When he finally did, it was without letting me know in advance, he came while only my maid was at home, took out the PCB from the unit and left. This was over two months ago and I am still waiting for the part to be either brought back or replaced. I want to clarify that there doesn’t appear to be anything terribly wrong with the invertor, i.e. if the PCB is faulty, it needs simple repair or replacement. But 4 1/2 months just to get it looked at, and thereafter, 2 more months pass without actually carrying out the repair!


I want to state that I was quite satisfied with the performance of the inverted but unlike before, I would now strongly recommend AGAINST anybody buying one purely because of the appalling response on the company’s part to a simple service request over such an extended period of time. There’s little point in buying good equipment if it’s going to lie uselessly at home because the company does not provide basic support.
