This is Mandeep I am the only non technical person in my family, a family of engineers about 2 months back I felt a need of an inverter for my newly bought flat at Gaziabad. I did all the possible reserch on internet but got more confused. then atlast I spoke to my cousin brother who is an electric engineer.
Here sharing basic facts
1) While buying an inverter please insure that the product is Pure Sine Wave, reason being the power supplied through the grid comes in the Sine Wave format and all the appliances are manufactured to work on sine wave to give you best effeciency, hence you get that irritating buzzing sound from fan with your old square wave inverter
2) while selecting the product please keep in mind the basics-Bigger Inverters runs more appliances/more load and bigger battery gives you bigger power backup
3) Plan your requirement before you go into the market to buy an inverter, some inverter comapnies like Su-Kam have a beautifully designed software to help you. This will help you to determine your budget
4) While buying battery for your inverter please note that in market there are majorly 2 kind of batteries 1 is normal acid battery and the other one is maintainance free batteries, my suggestion please go for maintainence free as it is very difficult to remember when to put whater in the battery and what quantity to be put. Generally we put filter water or tap water in the battery but this is wrong we should only put distrilled water easily available at Petrol pumps
5) When you will the market you will find majorly 2 kinds of systems 1st inverter and 2nd Home UPS, there is a basic difference between the two. Whenever there is power failiour inverter takes some seconds to start its operations, this is called switchover time. The time taken by HUPS for switchover is that of fraction of seconds hence you and your expensive and delicate appliances will not even feel the fluctuation caused during power failiour. And I am sure you know what fluctuation does to your appliances.
While buying an inverter/Home UPS go for a reliable brand and make sure that it has all the best security features available in the market.
My Recomendation go for Su-Kam as I am personaly using it for last 2 months now and fully satisfied.
