What would you give ?

I love birthday parties, anniversaries and of course Christmas.  The joy of celebration, preparation is immeasurable. Receiving gifts is fun of course but I think giving gifts is even better.

Each year with the onset of the new year, when I put the new calendar on, I copy birthdays and anniversaries jotted on the previous one to the new one.

This helps me to plan in advance. When to send cards, letters for encouraging younger nices and nephews before their exmas and of course planing gifts.

When I am out shopping, or doing the daily lunch time walk off from work, or the weekly grocery shopping, I keep my eyes open for a good bargain . I know that my son loves the Character Buzz Lightyear. Once I saw Buzz Lightyear Walkie Talkies months before his birthday and got that for his birthday in advance. Needless to say he loved it when he recvd it.

I think the First and foremost thing is to KNOW the person’s likes and dislikes and also needs.

My Mother Loves perfumes and little brooches. As she is a busy doctor, she does not need fussy jewellery hanging about her. A subtle perfume, or a little brooch is  good gift for her. She also loves plants. A new fresh green Fern, in a tastefully decorated pot.

~Mature -age people~

If the person you want to give a gift is an elderly person, maybe a book on their favourite topic, a music cd or a picture frame with grand kids.

~Time as a gift.~

TIME is a valuable gift for EVERYONE  and especially kids and elderly people. Spend some time with them, talk with them.

With the elderly, not living close to you, a trip can be planned for a short period of time. Talk to the elderly, a golden oldie movie would be good to watch together.

Take the kids to the zoo or a park, or a children’s movie. Planetariums are good too.

~Busy Mothers.~

An evening out for women to the nearest coffee shop away from the kids and needs of the family, may be an ideal gift for someone who doesnt get to go out very often. A mother who doesnt spend too much money on herself would also appreciate skin care and aromatherapy products.

~Young kids.~

When we were young kids, my brother and myself, some of our family friends gave us a gift subscription to the’ World’ magazine. This was part of The National Geographic’s group of magazines for younger people. We always LOVED it and enjoyed receiving it each month. Make sure the magazines and its content are suitable to the age group.

~Men and boys.~

Music, magazines, DVDs or, the latest thrillers from good writers, all these are good, but.

THE BEST THING IS TO KNOW WHAT THEY LIKE.

Of course the list is endless and so are the possibilities.

Says Maya Angelou’ I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.’

Enjoy the Christmas season. May we all give more than we receive, and enjoy in doing so.
