This was my first time to Pondycherry. It was close to 140km South of Chennai, India. We went through the Toll road goes right up to Pondy. On the way there are lots of places that we can see. We went to the cultural center "Dhakshina Chitra" they have all kinds of Art and Cultural Heritage displayed, from Northern Architecture & equipments as well.
Then we went off to the Crocodile Farm, there you can see hundreds of crocks from salt water to fresh water. It was maintained quite nicely . it was late so we went direct to Pondy. Pondycherry was really beautiful a French colony inside India. sometimes you forget that you are in India. Even the restaurants are build resembling the French architecture. You can find authentic French Break Fast as well. Food is really good. There are many places to eat. well there was one place that I did not like "Le Club"(I think) service was really bad. and all the other places are more or less very Good. I specially like Satsanga. They have Saturday night parties as do the others apparently. Pondy has a Rocky beach, but the coast is really nice and you can go on beach walks until 10 or 11. Be warned its really Humid there and don’t stay in a hotel without AC.So I would say if you are in India don’t come back until u see Pondycherry.
