Chori Chori is one of the rare hindi movies that I havent been able to comprehend. I couldnt understand many of the things happening in the movie. Thats rare for a hindi movie buff like me whos brain is full of junk films, forgotten songs, one film -wonders and old-gold movie information.
I was not able to understand what the film was about.
It was not just a mixture of a few movies, but a very bad/obfuscated/meaningless mixture.
Those of you who havent seen it , dont see it. Those of you , who want to, dont read my review. I am going to give out a few things that you may not want to know before you see it yourself.
Story is pretty much common, boy meets girl, boy loves someone else, asks girl to pretend she and he are in love to make the other girl jealous. In the process , the acting becomes real and love triumphs in the end.
Anyway, Lets get started with the dissection of . our Guinea pig - Chori - Chori
Here are some of the unwanted scenes/events in the movie

Rani ’s stupid monkey toy named Jonathan. Where did the desi filmmakers get this name from ...that too for a stuff toy that belongs to a poor, orphan girl of indian origin ??? I guess they got it from Mummy (remember the librarian’s brother ??)
Why did they ever show Rani taking off her clothes and rushing into the shower the amount she saw Ajay Devgan coming inside the bunglow ?? There was no need for the seduction act. In anycase they would have seen each other and screamed their lungs out, which they do.
If Rani had that so called Choti ma who took care of her for 15 years, why the hell didnt she go back to them after loosing her job/house ??? There was no need to get into the lives of a complete strange family and a boy and repeat the Dulhan wahi jo piya mann bhaaye feat of Rameshwari.
Sonali knows Ajay since the last 15 years ... looooooooong time indeed !!! why didnt she ever have feelings for him then. She thought he was a scatterbrain, irresponsible etc... suddenly when Rani tells her about how much he loves her, she goes sentimental and starts having feelings for him... and goes all mushy !!

Yash chopra tune yeh kya kiya..ever since dil to paagal hai where they show karishma falling for sharukh within seconds, on valentines day, without any signs of prior feelings ..all movies have been showing similar stuff....

eg. Kajol for sharukh in Kuch Kuch hota hai (classroom scene-pyaar dosti hai)
Aamir/preity in DTH (remember the oprah scene)
Shahid kapoor/Amrita rao in Ishq Vish (second half)
Sonali for Ajay in Chori Chori (when rani tells her about ajay)
Does love really happen in seconds for someone , whom you know for a long time ???
Coming back... I hate to digress ;)
- Rani and Ajay start realizing that Sonali is jealous, loves Ajay...why the hell they dont stop the drama and Ajay go back to her. ???
they wait till the end and plan to do the stupidest thing ever. their plan is to fight at the last moment before saat pheras and in the Lagan mandap get separated and Ajay and Sonali getting married... Didnt anyone think of what would have happened if Sonali didnt agree then...
-Ajays parents are this typical Sooraj Barjatya family family that stays together, prays together and eats together.......
Very irritatingly typical moms giving away shaguns, kangans..
Dadimas drooling over rani saying ’’tu to meri beti hai’’
Dads showing an artificial firewall for son Ajay yet... hugging , kissing and petting Rani. There one lame sister also in the wheel chair for no reason...Anyway... What made the sab ko khushi baantne waali Khushi cheat such a lovely family...??? all for a selfish girl who doesnt realized the worth of Ajay ??
No one thinks about the Kangan-Shagun family even for a while and continue to cheat to their hearts content.
- And what about two drunkard beggars...Sadashiv Amrapurkar and a very old Shashikala (yesteryears famous Saas who went : Chudail, kalmuhi...) Janamjali ... lol !!!!
they were of no use in the movie. When Rani needs to show fake parents in the end..she prefers the two beggars to her Choti ma who brought her for 15 years...
And...one more thing .. hey whats the time... ??? ITs 9 pm already.
I gotto rush, Wont waste even a minute more for this crazy movie with a rotten plot.
theek hai...one last thing.... Check out Ajay’s obsession for his dream house and his weird proffession also.
ha ha ha...thats one more baffling thing in the movie..
Overall Chori Chori is a disaster and quite impractical
Performances are good by the stars, since they are all accomplished.
=Rani is my favorite and she did a good job despite the weak plot.
=Sonali looked stunning !
=Ajay was lean, fresh and younger than ever in his turtle neck sweaters...
But then the overall movie was a pathetic package.
Go watch it, if you dont trust me !!!
