Chori Chori is a sub-standard flick that tries (in vain) to entertain through some really childish comedy mixed with dry romance .
Ranbir(Ajay Devgan), an architect from from Shimla and Khushi (Rani Mukherji), a hostess, meet by chance in an opulent banquet hall. However, unlike other Bollywood films, they do not fall for each other at first sight. Their relationship grows gradually in a series of meetings.
Khushi is an orphan who has been raised by a group of traditional women singers. She instantly takes a liking to Ranbir because of his caring nature and his sense of humor. Slowly this liking ripens into love.
Ranbir too is close to Khushi, but not without reservations. What’s holding him back? Is there another woman (Sonali Bendre) in his life?
Chori Chori hardly passes off as a timepass entertainer. The dromance in the film doesn’t even make half the impact they intend to. The comedy is kiddish. And the songs test viewers’ patience.
I wonder why Ajay is often cast in such roles? In this movie, he doesn’t have to try too hard to woo any of the two girls , Rani and Sonali. Accepted that the guy has some raw appeal, but he frankly ain’t got the stuff that makes girls drool over men.
And as for comedy, Ajay simply has no flair for it.
Rani hams. Sonalis diction and her facial expressions leave too much to be desired. Kamini Kaushal’s character in the movie is made to look like a buff.
In short, Chori Chori works only in few selected sequences. The movie, on the whole, falls flat
