Chung Wah: Average

I had been to the Frazer Town Chung Wah a couple of weeks back. They have two different sets of seating arrangements, one inside and the other outside. The outdoor seating resembles a dhaba [not literally; in the sense that Chinese food right next to a open road?] and the indoors are pretty good. The one thing I like about the indoors is the ambiance, it is serene and calm, even after being bang on the main road. The place can hardly accommodate 50 people, so you won’t have the normal chattering noice around you. No wonder why I could see a lot of couples dining.

The food is very average, nothing much to talk about. We had ordered golden fried vegetables and fried wontons. One could not even taste 2 different vegetables in the golden fried vegetables, everything that I picked tasted like capsicum. The wontons were under prepared and tasted more like onion stuffed in a fried platter. Then we ordered American Choupsey crispy which was again very very average, the crispness was missing:-). We had also ordered a Schezwan Fried Rice, I felt it was horrible because I could smell the pungent smell of the rice. Again nothing much to talk about here.

The service is very efficient and warm. The background music was very sad, with Enrique, Kenny G, Celine Dion accompanying your Chinese food. As far as the wallet effect is concerned, it is moderately priced. Starters are priced 75-110 and Main course are priced 100-150.

The one thing I should mention is if you want a calm place and have no where else to go, do go there if you don’t mind the average food.
