Chinese food is the most popular food on earth, says a survey. Noodles and Fried rices unique taste has so captured the hearts of the people that even Pizzas are being pushed to the 2nd place !
Though the cuisine available in India is totally different from the original Chinese food, its delicious. Were all familiar with Fried Rice, Chinese soups, Chicken and the 2-minute instant noodles. As far as India is concerned, there are some restaurants that give us good Chinese food....such as Mainland China, Aromas of China and Chung Wah. While the first two have been rated by my friends to be v good Ive been only to Chung Wah on BSK IIIrd Stage in Bangalore since its located near my office.
Chung Wah gives good Chinese food - I must mention that not only the food but also the prices too are Chinese - not as low as Yo China, but compared to other restaurants yes they are inexpensive (No problems such as Cockroaches found in dishes ... I remember reading one such review on Yo China on MS). If we order a non veg Wonton Soup + Chung Wah Chowmein + Gravy the price comes to Rs. 300 approx for a belly swelling quantity. For a group of 2 and 3 persons, it just cost Rs 375 and Rs.500 respectively. I would say thats reasonable indeed. And it tastes quite good for the price.
The ambiance is very good as they have decorated the place with all the Chinese lamps, banners and writings - truly reminds me of watching a Chinese movie like Once Upon a Time In China. The presence there is really Chinese - unique. While the ambience suits for any group numbering members more that one such as couples, gang of college guys, officials and famillies, I feel its got a romantic touch to it thats ideal for romantic evenings for dating and couples. Whenever Ive ordered some food, the service has been quick and prompt - noodles are served well within 10 - 15 min.
Its hard to say which is my fav food - most of the times I prefer to order Chung Wah Chowmein or Singapore Noodles. Thats because once I ordered Thai Rice cooked in pot. Against my expectations it just tasted like a plain chicken curry rice prepared in every Indian kitchen- it tasted very ordinary. Ever since then I stopped experimenting with newer food items as thats waste of money. I have to be v picky in ordering food there. And yes theres been one more problem - twice the servers there goofed up big time on serving what I ordered. When I ordered Chung Wah Fried Rice they served Chung Wah noodles. When I ordered veg Soup, they serve non veg Soup. I think CW need to train better its absent minded servers. Otherwise Chung Wah is fine and a great place to hang out for lunch and dinner. I personally did not like the interiors of Chung Wah branch on CMH Road Indra Nagar. Their other branches are in Koramangala, Indra Nagar, Koramangala, JayaDeva Hospital (BTM Layout), Jayanagar ... a few to say.
