If you happen to frequent Hyderabad, Chutneys is one place you should not miss. It is at Nagarjuna Circle near Panjagutta. Being between Ameerpet, Khairatabad and Banjara Hills, it is accessible from all the places you could be in Hyd. In case you have a choice, I woud recommend weekdays since the place is hell crowded during the weekends. As I have mentioned in my earlier reviews of Hyderabad restaurants, the city has a habit of eating out and almost all the places are crowded in weekends. these guys do not take reservations and the place is given on a first-come-first-serve basis. When you go in, order for some buttermilk. it is the best way to start on the menu and spend some time before the food arrives. the menu would offer North indian and South Indian food. My advice is skip the North indian section and attack th Southern section. That is what these guys are famous for. You would have a variety of south Indian snacks to choose from like the Four Uttappams, Pesarattu, etc. I would recommend the Steamed Dosa, which is dosa without oil. Remember to take large helpings of the five types of chutneys and sambar. It is out of this world. For those who want to stick to thali and meals, the place also has a decent lunch and dinner. All to be washed down with some good fruit juices. A meal for 2 or 3 people would normally come to about 200-300 rupees. Come here for the meal and the food. You will not get any privacy and good scenery here. The ambience is good, but it is not a romantic kind. The tables are quite close like a Udipi restaurant. But all said and done, if you are in hyd, dont go back without tasting the chutneys at Chutneys
