Dosa's at their best

My Rendevouz with Chutneys happened two months back when I was in Hyderabad, it was my 2nd visit to the lovely city after over a decade. What dragged me there? Nothing, just a vacation to catch up with some friends, and I am sure glad I did. I spent 5lovely days in this city that is so beautiful . Let me take you through that experience ..

Chutneys, the word that was on everyone’s lips. Made me wonder what itwas, was it a place, was it a restaurant or jus a cafe till finally myfriend mentioned it to be the Best stop in Hyderabad if you want to eatgood Idlies and Dosas. It was a Monday, and my friend suggested we meet up at Chutneys for dinner, so I cajoled two of my other friends(who dint know this other friend I was meeting) and made plans to meet her up at 8 at the restaurant. After spending the day roaming through the streets of hyderabad, enjoying the Hussain Sagar Lake, I was back home ready and waiting for my buddies to come so we could go out together.

The clock kept rolling on and it was nearly 7.15pm and my friend, lets call her T, called saying she was already there and asked me to come over. I am not familiar with this town but have been able to manage and find my way around, so around 7.45, I left my friends(A&G is how I shall call them) a note and ventured into the streets once again. Got myself a ric and armed with the directions from T made my way towards Chutneys, little did I know that the autowala had no clues where he was going..

After a couple of calls , I finally got the guy to head in the direction I wanted, and we reached Nagarjuna Circle near Panjagutta. It is between Ameerpet and Banjara Hills, and was less than 10mins from where I was staying. Found T standing on the roadside and got off the ric, after a couple of hugs and hi’s, we crossed the road and walked towards the restaurant, all the while my eyes where searching for the place, a signboard or someting to show me where it was. Dint realise we were there, till I was standing at the entrance.. Walked in, and got ourselves a table in the corner, got comfortable and began the memorable evening.

After about an hour my other friend A joined us, and we finally ordered, till then we had been chit chatting and oggling at the dishes mentioned in the menu card and drooling over them... We had also built up quite a nice appetite by then.. I chose for the Dosa with mushroom masala, A ordered Spinach masala , and a plain dosa , T went for plain Butter masala dosa that came steaming hot on a plate with a nice dollop of butter on top.. Mouth watering it sure was.. We dug into it without any delay and resumed talking only after wiping our plates clean. They served these lip smacking chutneys- Sweet coconut chutney, normal coconut chutney, tomato n onion based chutney and there was another one, that was green in colour that I dint try- must have been coriander , plus hot sambar. The meal was completed with A and I sharing a cup of Hot coffee .

Food for money’s worth I would definitely say and the service was very good, it took less than 10mins for them to deliver our orders and they also serve unlimited portions of chutney and sambar . :)

Sinful was how the whole meal was.. you can go with your friends, family, partner, colleague, kids.. absolutely anybody !!

What is amazing about this place is its not just another eating joint but it is an Experience and one all who visit Hyd must try.. My friends also told me they have a lovely buffet upstairs in the 1st floor .

So what are you waiting for.. Next time your in Hyderabad, please go visit Chutneys and enjoy.. Think of me when you eat and I hope you have a great time...
