Just came back from a 2-nights 3 days stay at Cicada Kabini. I was actually trying to book the Kabini River Lodge, but since it was not available, I ended up booking at Cicada.
I was a little worried after seeing some of the negative reviews here. One thing I did is to carry some snacks, canned drinks etc for my son - as I read in some of the reviews that they did not arrange food for kids outside their normal retaurant timings.
end to end, the experience was totally excellent. very friendly staff, well maintained property, very good food, it was a really relaxing experience for me and my family.
The staff always asked us if all our requirements are taken care of. The retaurant manager used to ask me if I have any special requirements for my son, and when I asked about less spicy food, extra milk in the night, he made sure everything is taken care of.
We used pedal boating, Kayaking etc in the Kabini reservoir. The large, tranquil reservoir, and not a human being in sight, pedal boating with your spouse and kid during the sunset is one of the most unforgettable experiences.
Jungle safari was also enjoyable, though we could not spot tigers or leopards. we did see many deers, elephants, lone tusker, giant squirrel, many peacocks, langoors etc.
They have an excellent swimming pool, gym etc. Another thing I liked is that they have many bicycles parked near the reception, and you can take a couple of them(at a nominal charge) and keep with you - park near your cottage and use it to move around within the property.
Advice to people who plan to visit: use your own vehicle. take some snacks etc if you have small kids. If you enjoy your soctch or wine, take a bottle(and opener) with you - the Bar is not that well equipped). Take swimming cloths. you will need it for Kayaking and using swimming pool.
