Don’t know what Ciena Management has plan for India? First they hire people and then they fire without any reasons. They always give one or other reason for firing their employees. I don’t know what they think about India. They compare the work culture as same as of US but they don’t know how emotional Indian are with respect to there jobs.
First, they ignore the India growth story and they think if US is in recession and no jobs in US means same situation in whole world. Where every business is hiring and trying to retain there employees by giving spot bonus and good increments, Ciena management ignored and commented its sham and media created hype. So as there puppets in India also say like MD and her yes Miss Sr Director HR(Don’t know she deserves even Manager Title or not). Result higher attrition…. and then US management says India management is incompetent to control the attrition( to large they are correct but for different reasons).
After MEN acquisition( still figuring who has acquired whom) India management made fool of India staff that huge load of work will come to India and made air castle of thinking they would bring entire MEN work from Wipro to Ciena India. Then suddenly announced that no work is coming and we need to reduce the manpower as US management is thinking Indian Management is idiot.
Any how, MEN or US management is successful in their strategy…. They let go the MD then Finance Head and after Legal Head…. and now one of the high fly high paid R&D Director( can someone answer why first they hire 2 big idiots in R&D).
What does all this indicate… they are removing one by one all senior people( whether competent or not it does not matter at this stage boz they have no plan to replace them). Now it has to see who is next…. HR, R&D, Operations, etc….
I think in next all hands one should ask new R&D head is he here to grow and stabilize the Ciena India or came here with mandate to close. BTW, his first agenda was to take personal revenge as the old MD showed his the doors from India few years back and now he proved that he is more cunning politician then a techi.
But I think all of us should give some thought is this company a good career move or all of us are making waste of time. BTW, I have decided to move on and will be going in next few days. All the best to all of those who are thinking ciena as dream career company.
