My experience is very similar to what ome of our friends have listed here. Let me first vent out a bit by saying that TTK has got some of the WORST SERVICE MECHANISMS in place for its policy holders.
My problems started the day I submitted a request for my mother to be treated and the pre authorization never came back. On numerous follow up calls, some emails, and even shouting, I got nothing back. So, I decided to give it one more shot. I went to the regional office in CP, Delhi and demanded an explanation and also told them very clearly that I was not going to go away unless they gimme the details or the approval. By all means, they tried to send me back but I did not move. So, after 3 hours of waiting anf another round of useless calls, I got a so called approval. Wait, problems have only started.
On the next day, I got my mother admitted. After we got into the room and the doctor was on round, I got a call from the hospital TPA Desk that the approval which I got yesterday has been over-written by a rejection and no reason has been provided. I contacted my organizations HR and got to know that the TTK folks have not even bothered to inform the Delhi office that all policies had been renewed and they had rejected the claim thinking that the policy had expired. I wonder ho they manage something without a centralized system!
Anyways, then the amount for which the treatment was approved was too less. I had by this time decided not to go for the insurance and pay off the bill on my own. Somhow, my company HR managed to get the Delhi office an email confirming that the policy is valid. It is beyond any explanation as to how much I had to run around and fight for something that I have already paid the TTK folks.
Back to the story, after my mother got dischared, I got a call from the hospital saying that TTK has not approved the treatment bills and I need to settlr the bill. I don’t want to say anything more than this. you can imagine what I would have gone through.
So Advice - please do not fall for a TTK policy. Rather save money and get treatement yourself.
