This is my personal experience with Citibank. This bank boasts of many services. I approached for a personal loan and they assured that it would be done in 3-4 working days.
Currently I am working in chennai, but I am a resident of hyderabad. At chennai I am statying with my cousine in a flat. We have total 15 flats in the building and not that close to neighbours. One of our neighbours had some disputes with us. I am a software employee.
The bank people took all the required documents on august 8th and started process. My office timings are 8:30 A.M to 6:30 P.M, so I have to start at 7:30 A.M from home. The verification person came at my residence for verification at 10:30 A.M and called me that the door is locked.
I told him that all of us statying there are working so we will be at office by that time. So this person left from there and other verification person came at office, he checked all my documents and ID Card. That day I got 3 verification calls from Citibank to my official landline all were answered.
That was well done and next day a call came saying that everything is fine with verification and I need to give 8 check for the processing of loan. But to my shock they increased the processing fee and intrest rate by 1%. I tried to talk but all in vain. As there was urgency I accepted their terms. The doccumentation person came and he asked me all the documents in original.
That day I didnot carry them and spoke to the concerned person - if they had informed me I would have carried them to office. So they asked me to submit next day. The person asked me other details and left the place taking check alone. That evening I got call from citibank saying that they need my original address proof of Hyderabad. I said that I donot have that with me now but I can get it in couple of days. So after 4 days I called up them and said I have all documents which they asked. Next they asked me to come to their office and submit that, I did so.
That evening one female called me and said that documents are perfect and your loan would be processed. But next day one person called from citibank and asked that there would be one more redsidence verification, so I said ok and tol them my availability at residence. Next day I waited till 10:00 A.M and nobody turned up, so started for office. That day the same guy called up and told me that there was door lock at 8;30 A.M . I told them that it’s not possible because I was present at residence, so the guy told me that he wll send his executive again.
The same story repeated next day also. But the very next day I started office as usual and this guy dropped in at my residence. At that time my cousin was there and answered all the questions. It seems this person talked to the neighbours (with whom we don’t share good terms) about us. Any how they will tell some negative things about us. And that happened, there was again a call saying that my residence verification has problem and there would be one more verification process. I need to saty at home.
So I took leave one day and stayed at home, but no one turned up. It’s been nearly 20 days the process started. I got annoyed and called up the executive and enquired. They told me that there no need for verification and my loan would be processed. I was happy. But to my dismay I got a call next day that my loan application was rejected and reason for that was some problem with residence verification. These people are playing with me. I was told that my cheques will be couriered. I argued with them that if they had so much big process then why they have taken the cheques. it been 15 days till now I didnot receive cheques.
*I have questions to ask these Citibank people:
If you cannot process loan in 3-4 days why do you tell people like that ?
If you require so many documents why you say easy documentaion?
If you trust my neighbours then why you take all documents from me. go to my neighbours and ask my details and if you satisfy then give me a loan ?
You bloody people have taken all required documents and know my permanent residence then why you won’t enquire my residence at hyderabad ?
DOn’t take cheques when you are not confirmed. why you unnecessarily bother the people ?
See you banks run because of us, if we are harrased like these then who will come to you?
This is my story, I don’t know why these people are acting like these.
