I am a new customer of Citibank, just opened my account last month... not out of choice but my employer out of the blue decided to switch all our salary accounts from ICICI to Citibank!
well we weren’t given any option! I bet if we were, no one would have opened an account in Citibank.
so, one fine day their representatives came in gave everyone the Citibank Suvidha forms, collected them and very easily each of us had an acocunt in Citibank.
By the end of April, my salary was supposed to be deposited in my Citibank account. since I had already verifed that my account was opened and I had also received my payslip, I was pretty sure that everything was well, until after 3 weeks. When I checked my balance, it was Zero!
I inquired in my office and came to know that after openeing the bulk accounts, Citibank had provided the list of accounts to my office, in which my number given was wrong and so my salary had been credited to someone else’s account.
The person from Finance wrote to Citibank, to which they responded ( well... not anything written this time! of course!! ) that the salary was deposited to my husband’s account ! My husband also works with the same company and they made a ’’SMALL’’ mistake in the name!!!! and I was given a friendly advice to ask my husband to transfer the money to my account.
To this I refused and asked them to revert the wrong transaction and credit the money in my account ASAP. they told me it would be done in 2 working days.. and nothing done yet even after 5 days.
and here I am ! out of frustration writing this review!
Will you ever imagine such a thing happening? what would happen if they make the ’’SMALL’’ mistake in the name next time , not in the surname but my name?? why should my husband un-necessarily pay whatever TDS is applicable because of the wrong credit to his account... what if my salary goes to some other account and the person spends it?
well I got the answer for the last one! they sure make all such blunders.. and if there is some loss of money, they sure have various ways to recover it! wrong charges for credit cards.. minm balance fees for 0 balance accounts .. skipping statements by post.. and so on................
