City of Djinns is a wonderful book written by William Dalrymple. The book traces the history of the Delhi from the beginning of millenia to date. It uses a blend of history and myth to take the reader on a jourey to know more about the city. The prose is easy to understand and the book is very well researched. While the author’s love for the city is quite apparent, he doesn’t pull any punches to highlight the dark side of the city and it’s people.
For those who want to know more about Delhi, this is a great book.
