All what glitters , is not to stay forever ...

For ages we have been watching films based on what happens when mankind gets over? This one isnt any different in the topic but it surely is in the presentation .

City of Ember is a truly amazing piece of cinema which need not to be missed at any cost. It makes you feel in true sense as to what would happen when the world reaches its end.

Plot-

When mankind is about to come to an end, a group of scientists decideto create and populate a city deep underground, they name it City of Ember. It is set tolast for 200 years after which its inhabitants are to retrieve from astrong box instructions to return to the surface. Over time the box is made to pass on to the city’s mayor and just before a few 70 years when the box has to open, the chain breaks. and the message is lost. Life in Ember starts getting deteriorating rapidly, after all till when would the generators last without any input. Theirpower supply starts failing and food starts being rationed. It’s left to twoyoung adults to unearth the secret of Ember and to lead the way out.

The actors have done a marvellous job . Tim Robbins and Harry Treadaway have acted well and done justice to their roles. The kids are fabulous too. The movie might give a National Treasure kind of a look at times but it certainly goes with the flow of the movie.

It has a feel of the 80’s and its feels totally as if a set is created, which indeed it is. The human messenger system, the chit system to decide post graduation jobs, the barter system, is all what will make you go back ages ago.something you have only heard of and never lived.

Nothing is unrealistic and I would say its the most touching movies of the times, something which really makes you feel what it intends to.

The moment when the kids see the sky for the first time and the girl says .*"Oh, its blue! " * is a breathtaking scene.

  • All in all, a movie which doesnt need to be missed for nothing.
