Although it should be strictly discouraged if someone is on the verge of starting and the regular smokers too should think about quitting this filthy habit sooner or later otherwise the consequences are likely to be highly fatal, but since I have spent a fortune and a great deal of lifetime after this brand I dont think I can quit from here. Also, its the best brand to start with and the best to be the last among the many last cigarettes if ones trying to quit.
About me, I started whenI was 19 myself; in the year 2004. During those golden days one regular Classic used cost INR 3. Believe me I have been a very loyal smoker to this brand and dare I say, I preferred to stay without a drag rather than smoking any other brand. For a week or two I tried to switch to Navy Cut but soon got fed up and came back to the brand I had been smoking for years, i.e. Classic. To this day, per day consumption is about 25-30 cigarettes; averaging a cigarette or two(sometimes more) in almost every hour of the day while I stay awake.
The pure taste of the tobacco, the near perfect blend and just the prefect length of the cigarette still gives me the same kick as it used to give me 10 years ago. Sometimes it even feels odd if I hold any other cigarette between the two fingers.
Chain smokers like me would definitely understand what difference does it make when there is any other brand of cigarette being lit before them. With eyes closed, I can identify whether I am smoking the regular brand or any other piece of paper wrapped around other blend of tobacco.(Yes, its true, I can distinguish between the smokes of the Classic and others)
The cigarette is too smooth and yet it gives the right stir inside the mind. Regular smokers(like myself) barely ever take notice about the rise of the morning sun unless they light a cigarette as soon as they wake up.
Such is the affection I have developed towards this brand over the years that I barely ever run short of cigarettes. Sometimes I forget to carry a toothbrush while moving out of town but I dont remember if I ever forgot to carry a pack of Classic regular. Best of all it is easily available at any cigarette shop all over India, particularly in the northern region of the subcontinent.
However, the new govt policy has hiked the prices of cigarettes including this one drastically; but I dont think thats going to affect my appetite to smoke even slightly. The same classic which was being sold for Rs 6 in 2012 has steeply hiked to Rs 12 in 2014. Still I dont think it will diminish the demand of this brand among the loyal Classic fans, provided the manufacturers(ITC) compromise the quality of the same.
The filter is awesome, the quality of paper is the best and above all the tobacco used in it is the best grown tobacco among all of the forms grown across India. Thats why it is the best cigarette according to my verdict.
Regular Classic is perhaps the best brand to stick to, and if asked to me, I shall say this is one thing I would like to carry to my grave.
