The following review is not about Clearasil, it is about two other products that are better than it and could not be put into any other category.
Firstly, let me tell you I am a teenager and suffered from bad acne. I tried all these special washes and lotions etc, which sometimes improved my face but more often than not simply wasted my money. I recently tried Clearasil Complete, which improved my spots but didnt completely rid my face of them. Clearasil helped, but after using it twice a day for three months I gave up on it. It proved to be expensive, and so I abandoned the treatment.
Clearasil doesnt get to the root of the problem, which is not the dirt it washes away from the surface of your skin, the problem is internally in your body.
The problem Clearasil does not shift is the skins pores becoming clogged up with oil, which is secreted from the skins sweat glands. During teenage years and adolescents in particular, these glands become increasingly active, and Clearasil cannot get beneath the skin to reduce the production of this oil. Clearasil can only cleanse the skin.
However, during a recent visit to my doctors, I decided to bring the problem of my skin up and seek his advice. I was told by him that spots are stubborn, but, can eventually be shifted with determination and a regime of keeeping the skin clean, and regulary taking the tablets im about to tell you about.
I was prescribed MINOCIN MR by the doctor, and was told to take one a day.
I was told to keep my skin clean, and if I did this it would work.
The tablets work by reducing the skins infection from the dirt and oil produced by and obtained by the skin, therefore allowing the spots to heal more efficiently. It also attempts to decrease the skins oil production.
At first I thought the tablets were a waste of time, as I had been using them for a month and had noticed only a slight improvement.
I returned to the doctor after this first month, and was told to persist with the tablets, as I would notice some effect soon.
I trusted his advice, and continued to take one a day as originallly prescribed.
After about six weeks after beginning treatment, I began to notice a dramatic improvement in the state of my skin. Instead of being red all over, the skins colour began to return to a natural flesh colour, and the spots became less angry than previously.
I told the doctor on my next visit of the improvement, and he prescribed me another course of the treatment.
After continuing the course for a further three months, my skin became almost blemish free, and I was told by my doctor to continue the treatment for another 6 months in order that my skin did not return to its old spotty state. I did this, and I remain without a single spot on my face.
Minocin is not reccomended for the under twelves, and during my treatment I noticed no side effects of the treatment whartever. I would certainly recommend Minocin to teenagers with spots, as with persistence it certainly pays off.
The doctor also prescribed me a special cream called QUINODERM, which works by drying up the spots. This is also very effective, however it is known to cause side-effects such as a rash and reddening of the skin. If it doesnt cause a rash on you, it is excellent as a companion to MINOCIN MR.
QUINODERM does dry the skin up, and use of a good moisturiser is essential whilst using it. The skin soon becomes accustomed to the cream though.
These two products, used together are excellent at beating spots, and are recommended by me. Clearasil is easily beaten by both these products.
Overall, 10/10 for both products.
Try it, it works!!
