I had been impressed with Cleartrip because of its ease of use and variety of online booking options. Unfortunately, I made for the Green Castle Hotel in Mussoorie through Cleartrip. The hotel was under construction, and while the front desk promised it would cease, the construction continued for hours and I was informed it would continue into the night, making the hotel literally uninhabitable. As my family could not remain in a hotel with dust and extreme noise caused by construction, I called the manager (who wasnt even in Mussoorie - he was located in Delhi), who finally agreed that we could check out and he would process 100% refund through Cleartrip. I immediately contacted Cleartrip and informed them of this commitment so that they could start the process of communicating with the hotel and processing my refund. Nonetheless, immediately following Cleartrip contacting him, he refused to give a refund and after three days of negotiation, he has barely agreed to a 50% refund.
The lack of customer service from Cleartrip, which has failed to require the hotel provide the promise refund, leaves me no other option but to dispute the purchase through my credit card.
This has been exceptionally disappointing, as Cleartrip sold me a product which was not of the guaranteed quality and now is not advocating for the my rights as a consumer, but siding with a hotel manager who was not even in the same state (much less on the premises to see the state of his hotel) when he committed to the refund. I expected more from Cleartrip in terms of guaranteeing that a purchase made on their website came with the assurance that at least a hotel room would be inhabitable and not under construction.
Be very wary of making hotel reservations through Cleartrip, because if there’s a problem with the hotel, the customer service agents will not ensure that your rights as a customer are upheld and you will end up paying for a service that you could not use.
