I booked an air ticket from New Delhi to Bangalore at Cleartrip and paid for the same through my credit card. I also bought ICICI Lombard travel insurance at Cleartrip site paying Rs 129 for the same.
The ticket & travel insurance was purchased a day before the travel date.
The problem: Cleartrip charged me Rs 129 for ICICI Lombard travel insurance but the Insurance it seems was never bought from ICICI Lombard. I contacted ICICI Lombard (toll free number 18002666) citing my Cleartrip Trip id and PNR details and they told me that they have received no notification or request from Cleartrip for the purchase of Insurance.
I talked to at 3 different customer care executives at Cleartrip(Toll free number 18602339000). I told them the problem and all 3 of them very sheepishly told me that they would " get back to me as soon as they could"...which they never did.
Now the possibilities here are:
Cleartrip has a moron and substandard technical & or functional team who charge customers credit cards for a 3rd part product(insurance) but never bother to ensure that the notification reaches the insurer well in time
Cleartrip is hand in glove with ICICI Lombard in this. They are charging customers for Insurance which is never bought.
I think a detailed enquiry should be conducted to unearth the rat.
