That is the saying and a true saying. Pictures can mean so much of loved ones, places you have been and special events you will want to always remember. Therefore you want the pictures to come out the best they can.
I have had many expensive cameras and have taken a lot of photographs as a hobby but I have now gone to using the disposable cameras.
They run anywhere from $5.00-$10.00 in the US depending on brand. I usually get a generic brand. The quality of the pictures is great. I have never had a problem with them.
They have indoor/outdoor ones and you will not want to use the flash outside unless it is a very dark day. Even inside if the room is naturally lit up very bright you wont want to use the flash either.
When snapping a picture always stand with the light to your back otherwise all you will get is glare and a poor picture.
You want to be close enough to get a good shot but not so close that things turn out blurry or distorted. This you learn by practice and what better way to practice for the price.
Once you have mastered the basics of taking good pictures then you can get a good camera with different lenses such as a zoom lens for taking pictures at a distance say of a wild animal that will not let you get too close or birds in flight, anything that has a lot of movement to it.
If you just want to take pictures of family and events I would stick with the disposables.
When posing for a picture try to act natural. If you try to pose in a certain way the picture can come out really bad. I am not a person that photographs well unless I do not know in advance the picture is going to be taken.
Having a nice background behind a person can make the person stand out nicely as long as the designs and colors do not clash with each other so plan ahead if you are taking the sort of picture you will want copies of.
Photographs on Christmas cards can be nice for family that do not live close by.
I always have a camera handy for anything that might pop up and usually carry one in my purse for things I see along the way that I want to get a snap of.
A good steady hand when taking a picture is a must. If you are jerking the camera around the picture will not come out well.
