I chose cloud 9 - old airport road for my delivery and was very excited about my first birthing experience, only to realize its definitely nothing but a Hospital with very good marketing skills, but when it comes to service, its as bad as any general hospital. Hospitals usually should maintain good hygiene levels, but cloud 9 seems to be more interested in cleaning only the reception area and not the wards, especially the LDRs! I was consulting Dr Praveena Shenoy ever since I knew I was pregnant .
Though the appointments and scans never happens on time, I thought it was still ok to go ahead with the bed booking and booked one in the month of Nov, as I was due on 28th Jan 2013. When I went for a routine visit on 25th Jan, Dr Shenoy told me to come on the 29th or 30th of Jan night after 11 pm, if I did not get my pains naturally. She wanted to induce pains so that it would help me go into labor. I chose 29th Jan and got myself admitted at 11 pm. My husband finished the admission procedure while I was admitted in the LDR . The duty Doctor for that night came at 11.30 pm and checked me, and induced pains. I was made to share the room with another patient Mrs. Shakunthala, who was also induced with pains, just a couple of minutes prior to mine. She started getting contractions at about 1 am while I was still wondering what was happening around me.
It was getting really difficult to share a room with a patient who was groaning with pain, adding to the fact that it raised my fear about what I was about to undergo . I requested the nurse and duty Doctor to another ward, but they said everything full and quite a number of patients had come down . It was getting really tougher and they finally offered me another room opp to LDR-2 in the NICU area at about 3.30 am( by then my pains had started) I was relieved to get shifted to the other room which was an individual room. To my horror when I went there, I saw blood stained tissue papers lying all over the room, the sink was blocked, the bath room had no dustbins and there was blood spilled all over and the worst thing was there were small bottles filled with urine samples. I was fully dilated by 8 am and I was not getting a labor room as there were many "patients" . Finally at about 8.45 am(after my husband running around the staff) we got a labor room where I was shifted. Again, to my horror, there were buckets of blood lying around.
The room was a total mess and completely unhygienic . Even though the prior patient has delivered almost more than an hour ago(by 7 am), they had neither cleaned up the place, nor was any effort made to arrange another room. The nurse were trying to argue with each other on to which room to shift me into. Even though the LDR 1 was free and cleaned up by then, they chose an easier option of shifting me to LDR2 which was in a total mess. The amount of stress my husband had to tolerate in this entire episode is unimaginable.Taking care of a pregnant wife alone and trying to get a room arranged for the delivery was not somebody had prepared for! The only good thing that happened in cloud 9 was, I delivered a healthy baby girl with the help of Dr .Swapna at 9.15 am .
The stay in the room 304 was not so great either . I dont want to write up another experience story on this . Neither was the room was cleaned on time, nor was the food arriving to the patient in time. I would like you to give a check on the emergency Doctors number which is provided, who never attends to any "emergency" calls .We expect at least the pediatric Doctor to be available on a call. The entire experience made us wonder whether we had come to a government general hospital.
I have a few logical questions here:(which I have mailed to the feedback id of clou9 several times, but got no response) 1. When I was not having a natural pain, and was only induced one, why did the staff not think about "too many patients"? 2. If the house keeping staff does not work/arrive in the night, what makes the staff invite patients at night? 3. Why is cloud 9 having rooms share LDRs with other patients considering the fact that your charges are not nominal? There is no point in having a big lobby, lavish rooms when the basic hygiene is a big big challenge at cloud 9. I would like to mention a couple of good things. The Doctors are excellent and the staff nurse are very helpful . Over all it was a terrible birthing experience at cloud 9 and I would not want anybody to undergo the same experience there. NOTE:"
The rating is only for birthing experience and I would rate my doctor with all the 5 stars.
