“ News is the essence of life”
Yes that’s very much true, News is the essence of life. Most of you when you get in the morning the first thing you do, is read a newspaper with a morning cup of hot tea or coffee. Let it be gossip or some real information, unless and until you are not informed you wont know what’s happening in this world.
For me, first thing in the morning apart from the regular news on my TOI which has become more of advertisement paper, the first thing, I do is watch BBC, CNBC OR the CNN. But when you see the channels like BBC and CNN what more do you see is a cold war between the US and UK.
BBC hides some of the news, which US is in picture and vice versa on CNN. Everyone at stage needed to go on the net, as it was the future of any TV channels or for that matter any services or products. Nowadays the FMCG market is the biggest market and In US and UK they have really caught up and lot of FMCG companies have become online. So not drifting from the topic lets get straight with what CNN has to offer to the surfers who are looking of News on the web.
CNN.com
CNN offers all the information, which is shown, on their channel to the Netty’s. No doubt the design of the site is really neat with all the information arranged in a proper manner so that a normal user don’t find it difficult.
The site does take time to load but you can’t blame that for, because so much information is stored and to retrieve this information it does take time. CNN uses the reuter technology to update their news information which is updated in a fly so you find latest information their, but their have been times, it did take time to have the information, but there is no point cribbing about one day in a blue moon it was not updated.
But compared to BBC, the site is not up to the mark. BBC is faster to load and has more information than CNN. But again, CNN takes an upper hand as far as world news is concerned because BBC has more of European news.
At CNN you can watch the live news, which you see it on BBC and our very own ndtv.com. No doubt with the kind of connection we have got we can hardly watch these news live. But a person like me who spends 3/4th of the day on net and a leased connection, it’s sometimes really worth it.
CNN again missed some major news like the Afghanistan, Buddha Statue destruction. I was shocked to see such a well-known site to miss something like this. You really need to go deep in side the site and search than, only you will get information but definitely half cooked. This was the similar state on BBC. I really don’t understand how can the US be such a hypocrites. The way they were promoting the Gulf war on their news channel and getting sympathy from the world. US’s attitude SUCKS big time. Again they have tried many times to put Japan’s downfall news on the forefront and some major history, which the Japanese have done, was always in the back front(Check out the site today and you will find the front page on the state of the Japan politics). Many times I have seen CNN promoting the Pakistan propaganda also. They are definitely not the neutral sites as far as India and Pakistan is concerned. They are taking advantage of the situation, which India and Pakistan are into.
Feedback
If you’re planning to send a feedback to CNN about the lack of information forget it, it will take at least 2 weeks for your respond. Obviously the Americans are very smart and they know how to keep the customer smart, they will write a sweet letter to you and you are bound to fall for it, whether it is 2 days or 2 weeks.
No doubt you can watch the news in different language like Spanish, Italian but what’s the point when you are loosing some good information.
Finale
Watch both CNN and BBC websites simultaneously because what you miss in the CNN about the UK & Europe, you will get in BBC and vice a versa.
You have no other options because you don’t have any other better sites than BBC and CNN carrying information. So keep your alternatives, be smart and watch both the sites.
Still you don’t want to go to this site, your better bet will be
http://www.msnbc.com (Takes ages to load)
http://www.abcnews.com
http://www.foxnews.com ( I found this site really pleasing to navigate with good design and rich in content)
I found these sites also rich with content and real time information. The problem with all these sites is that a US company manages them and for all of them their priority is US. But don’t worry they have some good International news. My favourite is https://Foxnews.com because as I said, found it really easy to navigate and does not take time in loading. I like things, which are quick.
“So don’t want to watch the US or UK cold war, then come out the shackles of BBC & CNN and get on with some other sites. “
