It appears to me that CNN has finally ’’got with the times.’’ They’ve finally moved into the milennium and started covering stories that they think their viewers want to see.
Unfortunately, I believe they were wrong.
Years ago, I remember flipping through the channels, and finding coverage of the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange)-- Actual coverage on the floor with a reporter doing a voice over of some sort. They also covered the Iran Contra Affair as well as Operation Desert Storm. To tell you the truth, even though they were droll, I liked them because I could count on the facts.
Now, it appears as though CNN has caught the sensationalism fever that plagues television today. Personally, I blame it on the OJ Simpson trial. The programming is so sporadic on CNN lately, as they are constantly interrupting with ’’breaking news.’’ This ’’breaking news’’ is usually a new development in some old case, such as the Jon Benet Ramsey murder or the disappearance of Chandra Levy.
To be honest, I’ve stopped watching CNN because I don’t like their new ’’format.’’ They tried too hard to change. Now, they’re just like any other news channel.
