Misleading Promotional Campaigns

To, President & CEO, Coca Cola India and South West Asia, Sir/Madam,

This is to complain about the misleading advertisement by Coca Cola India Private Limited through its carbonated drink brand LIMCA under the name of "Limca Do Pal Taazgi Har Ghante Touchpad Offer(Contest)".

Through this offer/contest, individuals were invited to SMS or call-in with certain unique code(s) printed under the crown or on the reverse of the label of Limca products. Based on the criteria listed below, 10 winners were be selected each day of the Contest, and will be eligible to receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab each. In order to participate in this contest and win one such Samsung Galaxy Tab Touchpad for myself, I bought four 200ml bottles, five 300ml bottles, one 600ml bottle, one 1.25 litres bottle and one 2 litres bottle of Limca, on different occasions from different shops in Patna, during the contest period 17 August 2011 to 30 September 2011.

But none of those Limca bottles had any unique code number under the crown or on the reverse of label, nor any information about the above mentioned offer/contest. One of my friends, Rakesh, also bought two 2.5 litres bottles of Limca during this contest period but he also did not find any contest details/unique code on the labels of those bottles.

This means that Coca Cola India has lied to the customers about the contest. That there was no such contest happening on the actual ground. Its a known fact that companies/manufacturers adopt these kind of promotional activities to boost the sales of their products. But they are also legally bound to fulfill any such commitments(freebies/prizes) they promise to deliver to the consumers. In this case, there was no such contest going on the ground, despite it being advertised heavily on television and other mediums.

There was no such information about the contest/offer printed either under the crowns or on the reverse of the label of the Limca bottles that we bought. We bought in hope of winning some useful gadgets but ended up highly frustrated and utterly disappointed. At least in our cases, we feel cheated because of this misleading advertisement by Coca Cola India Private Limited. Now we want our money back. Therefore we request Coca Cola India to refund the money that we spent on your lies alongwith adequate compensation for misleading us by giving wrong information in your advertisements. Looking forward to a positive & quick response from your side.
