Valparai is perched on the border between tamilnadu and kerela. It is approachable by road from Coimbatore and it takes about 2 and half hours to reach the ghat road leading to the Valpari hills. Before reaching Valparai ghat road you can stop at Alaiyar dam which is also fascinating to watch. It is learnt film shootings are also done here as well as Valparai hills. The climate here is pleasant. There are some snack shops in Aliyar dam for us to quench our thirst and belly. A few kilometre drive from Valparai ghat road would lead u to Monkey falls. As Monkey falls is very near the road you can take a good bath and a banyan tree joola is also worth swinging.
Thereafter you can take some tea at tea shops run by tea estate owners and proceed to Valpari hills. It is only for the sheer driving experience without which you would not enjoy the scenic beauty of the Valparai hills, bedecked with tea garden and naturaly vegetation. On your way to Valparai you come across statue of one Mr. Caver Marsh, who was responsible for the development of the Valparai hills. As soon as you reach the hill top( very small municiplity) you can find hotels to board. During our visit we could not fnd any good vegetarian hotel, nay, there is nil. Vegetarians are advised to take some packed parcels from Pollachi enroute and make their stay pleasant without scouting for food or snacks for that matter.
You better stay one night and enjoy the dawn on the next day. There is a Balaji temple to visit and the life statue of Hanumanji is worth seeing. There is also children play ground near the temple. While you take the down tour you may take another route that will take you to tatas tea estate ( to a certain extent for some kilometers roads are not that good) Sholiyar dam.
We could not visit Top slips which is also shooting spot and it is understood that cottages are available.
