Located on Variety Hall Road, in Coimbatore, amidst a whole lot of shops that sell, bicycles to furniture, is this wonderful Restaurant.It has been in existence for over 6 Decades. Started in a two room house, that belonged to an elderly person called ANGANNAN ( Angappan - is the name and ANNAN - means brother in Tamil ).Till this day it is called <Angannan Biriyani Hotel>.The two rooms still remain, where you sit on a stool and sweat it out !! Or they have included a new block of an Air Condtioned Hall for the City Slickers, but beleive me the Biriyani Tastes better in the Two Room joint !!!
Angannan passed away a few years back, but his heirs have succesfully maintained the high quality that he set decades back.The quantity of Biriyani, is just right for one person, and is served piping hot on a Banana Leaf, that gives it a distinctive flavour.Alongwith it comes the normal ..</pachadi>...Big Onions , Tomato and Green Chillies in curds, but their speciality is the Gravy that is unique, being Tangy and Spicy at the same time !! The rice is well cooked, and so are the Lamb or Chicken pieces. They also serve .. </Without> that means ... without any pieces !!!
And then there is a whole lot of Add On’s !!!! Pick of the lot is Chicken Roast .. Really Small Chicks, fried with Onions, Tomato, Green Chillies and spiced with Curry Leaves, will wake up your taste buds. Again the quantity is just right for one person !! OR the Fried Fish .. Pomfret .. is top of the line, for fish lovers and if you are the adventureous type .. The Fried Partridge is a great Add On !!!
Remember, after all this to have the Tea .. Strong, Rich and Frothy.. it will settle all that you ate earlier !!! Finally, the <Best Part is the Bill !!> It will cost you a maximum of Rs 100/ - for a most exotic, ethnic, truly country biriyani made <Tamilnadu Nadar Style !!!>
